Description

The Iris Nebula (also known as LBN 487) is a reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus. It lies 1,300  light years away from us. Often there is a confusion with NGC 7023 which describes the open cluster within the nebula.

It was one for the three test pictures I could take this summer which was the most rainy and cloudy one for years. Unfortunately I only got 2h15 with 2 min subs of LRGB at f/8, so there is not much signal in the faint dusty regions.

South is up in this picture.
