Description

A tone mapped image of the Wizard Nebula in Cepheus. The area is full of stars which can easily run amok and take over the image. By using a tone mapping process the stars are removed and added back at the end. So you gain a little control over their size.

Another plus is you get to play with the colours, as the narrow band spectrum is out of our eyes visible range.

Only the six or, seventh image I've tried to tone map. Having only processed one other image in the last six months, there's nothing like a challenge to get you back into Pixinsight again. Needless to say this is over 12 hours processing, plus many deleted attempts :-)

Still the stars are looking ok.

I like the resulting palette. I used my tone mapped data with an enhanced Lum. You have to stretch the 3 filters before combining using the formula.

Description: Old data reprocessed using all the RC Astro's gizmo's. removing the stars has really helped me control them better as with this fov they took over the image. Doing the first stretch with Arcsinh Stretch helps me with the colours without over saturating the image as well.
