Description

Moon - composite image (!)

This method allows to see the moon with it's night time side with a background of stars.

I captured two images of the moon (one is a full phase moon) and then merged with the longer exposure to get visible stars.

Normally this would be impossible as the moon is very bright compared to the rest of the sky.

***Edit***

This is not the first composite image of the moon I post, so I thought it would be clear from previous explanations on how to accomplish this kind of an image, that it was clear enough that although the images here are 100% real and were captured with my scope and camera, that the composition of the 3 of them gives an impossible (but beautiful) final image.

This image is a complex of 3 different images captured at 3 different times and locations!

Merged together in Photoshop with a 'lighten' blending.

I hope this clears out whatever misunderstanding it may cause.

I always post composite images starting by saying that it's a composite image(!)
