Description

I am glad to have been able to image this emblematic area of Mars, Syrtis Major, before the remoteness of the planet is too important.

Every time I admire this triangular-looking formation, I immediately think of South America or Africa. This vision, together with that of the poles similar to ours, makes us feel close to our neighbor.

We can see from this view, that the planet is beginning to take a slightly gibbous shape, much like our Moon and this will only grow rapidly.

Technically, this is an LRGB image with L = 30 % IR and R = IR, made from 4 videos of 4 minutes per channel (from 21:08 UT to 21:53 UT or 45 minutes of derotation with WinJupos).
