Description

I'm glad the rain passed and I could try out my new telescope. The Milky Way is rising in the morning now, so I went for the Lagoon and Trifid Nebulae rising with the galactic core.

The Lagoon Nebula is roughly 5000 ly away from Earth, and 150 ly diameter. It's a powerful emission nebula surrounding an open star cluster with a lot of new star-forming activity going on.

The Trifid Nebula is approximately 4000 ly away, and 42 ly diameter. It's another emission nebula, but with veins of dark absorption nebulae running through it.

Tonight was my first time using the RedCat51, and I freakin love it. It was so easy to set up and use, no wasted time. I especially like the built-in bahtinov mask to help with focusing.
