Description

This planetary nebula is located 7700 light years away in the southern constellation of Pyris at a declination of -32 degrees.  It is a magnitude 15.6 PN which spans 1 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 2 light years.

HII is dominant throughout the nebula.  I don’t see any sign of a progenitor star.  The bright orange star appears to be a foreground Milky Way star.

There is structure to this PN but it is hard to understand.  It looks to me that we see 2 pairs of opposing bright regions, each perhaps looking at a side-on view of the central torus.  It is not unusual for bi-polar PN to have 2 different axes of outflow, occurring at different times.
