Description

I've done this pairing quite a few times in years past and this year is no different! An unexpected clear night without any plan provided an opportunity to experiment a bit. I never collected a serious amount of Ha on galaxies before but I've seen people tease out a bit more detail. I don't have a SCT and these are a bit small but hey-ho nothing ventured nothing gained.

No comments about how I'm nuts because I know that already ;-)

After quite a bit of work I think it has improved the structure in the spiral arms of Bode's Galaxy given my modest 712mm focal length (with x2 drizzle) from my past efforts but whether it is enough to justify 4.5 hours of Ha data on top of the 5 hours of LRGB I'm not sure and I'll let you judge....

I'm waiting to try this on M101 when it clears my roof as I think the improvement would be more noticeable on the larger target.

Title: some issues attended to......

Description: Used some of the tools in Pixinsight to try and deal with some of the issues in the original version - noise being number 1 on the list. There are some possible hints of what might be the integrated flux nebula peeking up from the background.
