Description

Here we have Abell 2162, a galaxy cluster located in Corona Borealis. There is also a bit of Abell 2160 as well in the upper portion of the image. Both are located about 500 million light years away and are part of the larger Hercules Supercluster.

I have to thank Gary Imm for sparking this interest for me. That said, this one doesn't look like much, but it is...

I find these galaxy clusters to be a completely mind bending thing to even try to consider. In the revision "B", I annotated a bunch of galaxies with information I found on SIMBAD and using the Aladin Light application. I annotated about 30 of them but there are so many more. Just looking at this, a 1.4 x 0.9 degree FOV, there could be as many as 10 trillion stars in this field. Maybe 10x that.

Mind bending to think that a great many infinitesimally tiny carbon based creatures living on a "pale blue dot" can even begin to contemplate this and each one of the trillions of possibilities orbiting each of these stars.

I hope you like this one... Clear Skies and health to you all.
