Description

This object is a planetary nebula located 2300 light years away in the constellation of Cygnus at a declination of +32 degrees. The nebula spans 2 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of about 1.5 light years.

There appears to be two different major gas ejections - an early ejection of both oxygen and hydrogen resulting in a blended, dim outer ring, and a more recent ejection of oxygen. This most recent ejection is sweeping through the earlier gas, resulting in bright cyan knots and filaments. The full resolution view is best for seeing these details. The central star is very bright for a PN.
