Description

The Triangulum Galaxy is a spiral galaxy located 2.73 million light-years from Earth.  It is catalogued as Messier 33 or NGC 598.  It's the third-largest member of the Local Group of galaxies, behind the Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way.

I captured and processed the LRGB data so that it could be a stand alone image.  I then captured Ha and O3 data and processed them into a single separate starless narrowband tone map image using an HOO color palette.  Mousing over the LRGB image provides a blended view of the two images.

Processing was done in PixInsight and the nonlinear stretch in my workflow was performed using the newly released Generalized Hyperbolic Stretch script from David Payne and Mike Cranfield.  I didn't realize how much I didn't know about stretching linear images until I read David's primer and used his equations for the nonlinear transform.  I can't say enough good things about how Mike's script created a superb framework for stretching images and removed most of the guesswork from this part of the processing.
