Description

Taken under 1 hour of 'civil darkness' from my 'dark sky' site in Scotland, this unguided image shows a 12 degree field in Vulpecula, with the tiny, but unmistakable, M27 bottom centre of the frame. Captured with my Hypercam 183C (2.4 micron pixels) attached to an old 75mm Pentax SLR zoom lens, and homemade CK to T2 adapter, using 60s unguided exposures.

With bright twilight in the North all night, rapidly giving way to dawn around 2am, needless to say there were a lot of gradients to deal with, and I lost an hour due to heavy cloud cover. That said, a joy to be back in Scotland, in the beauty and tranquility of this place, with a herd of 40 or so red deer pausing to graze the park in front of the house - what's not to enjoy.
