Description

The Crab Nebula is the remnant of a supernova event that happened in 1054 AD. The event was documented by both Chinese and Native American skywatchers as a transient bright naked-eye star-like object. Cataloged as M1 in Charles Messier's deep sky catalog, the name was coined by Ireland's 3rd Earl of Rosse, who noted its appearance similar to that of the many legs of a crab. At its core, is a neutron star or stellar corpse. The image was taken on the evening of January 5th with my C-14 telescope, operating at f/7 with an ASI071 camera.
