Description

So I took out again my RC, spent the full Moon night tweaking its collimation and backfocus and started imaging with it the following nights.

With an 8 inch RC at my disposal, at lot of bright galaxies available, the Moon up, which target is best to do? But the Spindle Galaxy in Draco of Course! Anyway having worked on the primary mirror collimation I wanted to image an object with an unique sharp feature.

There's some color noise around the galaxy, I tried tofix it but it's a matter of bad signal, as usual I get clear nights only when the Moon is up so not much choice for me. The Raw RGB combination looked awful, so I gladly welcome this final result.

NGC 5866 in Draco is quite a controversial object. Is classified as a Lenticular Galaxy but its dust lane is quite unusual for this type of Galaxy. It may in fact be a spiral galaxy.

Also there's controversy about it's name since many astronomers believe it's M102 but, I don't know for which reason, this is not confirmed.

Description: This is how the RGB looked like after the linear fit. The fact that RED was the brightest channel says a lot too.

Description: I tried to go a bit deeper to highlight the dust lane and the core. I also fixed a bit the color noise around the galaxy by changing the hue on magentas.
