Description

My first experiment with the use of the Astronomik IR 642 filter (bandpass 642-842 nm) as an "urban filter for galaxies" to pierce through IL.
Results are promising, also considering that the sky was rather murky and that this time I live stacked the pics instead of saving the individual light frames and stacking them afterwards with Astro Pixel Processor, an approach that always guarantees better results, particularly on difficult subjects.
Indeed stars, particularly bright ones, look way more bloated than usual, albeit this could also be related to the use of an IR PASS filter with a refractor.
Astro Pixel Processor was used only for its "wiping" or light pollution reduction post processing feature.
Galaxy UGC06969 (mag. 15.4) can be seen at the center bottom, right under M109, while galaxy UGC06923 (mag. 13.9) is visible to the top right of the frame.
