In early 2021, I finally got serious again about astrophotography and instead of just assisting my son, we swapped roles and I took lead. I decided to go large for my first image in over three years and push the old CGEM-DX to its limits by doing a six-panel mosaic of the Horsehead Nebula. Despite the mount having a mind of its own when it came to guiding, over the course of about a month I was able to put together enough hydrogen alpha data to complete the mosaic. Again, the calibration files, which I'm sure we generated at the time, were nowhere to be found. Fortunately the SX-694M is a wonderful camera and able to produce beautiful images even without the calibration files.
