Description

Inside the North America nebula, intense radiation pressure from bright young stars is slowly ripping apart the formation known as the Cygnus Wall. A heavy crop from the full field to emphasize the interesting details. SHO for the nebula, mixed with stars from RGB exposures.

This is also the "official" first light for my new 10" f/3.8 newtonian that I designed and built. The design goal was to combine a wide field with lots of aperture (obviously also requiring a larger camera..), but it seems also to perform very nicely resolution-wise. The best subframes had a FWHM down to 2" just after collimation. Unfortunately I'm still working on some collimation stability improvements so the stars are a bit elongated here and there as I could not recollimate the scope every night.
