Description

The region below the belt of Orion is most-often associated with M-42, the Flame, and Horsehead Nebulae. But lying just below the Horsehead (actually, to the northeast) is the less-recognized, but equally-beautiful, NGC-2023. Part of the Orion Molecular Complex, 2023 is both a reflection and emission nebula, spawning star formation in its realm, and lies some 1,300 light years distant.
