Description

NGC 3572 is an open cluster amidst a cloud of nebulosity in the Carina constellation, around 9100 light years from earth.

Apart from the beauty of the structure a a whole, something that stands out is the darker areas towards the "bottom" of the nebula. These are areas where the material/gas is clumped together the most (highest density), resulting in higher chances of active star formation. Over the next million years or so, these areas will likely have large amounts of stars forming in their center and slowly get eaten from the inside so to speak. Over time, these structures (and further down the nebula as a whole) will completely disappear as stellar winds from the ever growing starry population slowly "blows" everything apart.
