Description

Gum 12b is part of the greater Gum nebula scattered throughout Pyxis, Puppis, Antlia and Vela.  Rarely imaged because it is so faint, and probably not the object to attempt in bright moonlight.  Nevertheless I thought I would give it a go with the Nikon 200mm f2 lens, in an attempt to capture most of the fragment.

The final result is... OK.    At this orientation, it looks rather like the paper aeroplanes I used to make.  The "Paper Plane" nebula is unlikely to catch on, but I am sure others can come up with a better name than Gum12b
