Description

Located in the sky in the constellation Gemini.
The Medusa Nebula is a supernova remnant.
When a very massive star (in this case about 20 solar masses) runs out of fuel, the outer layers collapse toward and bounce off the star's dense core, exploding violently in an event called a supernova and ejecting most of the mass into space.
Part of the star's material, forming these nebulae called supernova remnants. Inside it is what remains of the original star, the dense core called a neutron star.
