Description

The Rosetta Nebula, Caldwell 49

This emission nebula is approximately 5000 ly from Earth and approximately 130 ly in diameter.

It is closely associated with the open cluster in its center, NGC 2244.

The bright hot stars in the cluster excite the surrounding nebula cloud causing it to glow.

This is a reprocessing of the earlier data set. This time, I worked on a simulated HOO palette based on PixInsight. I also used various PixInsight tools to separate, boost, and recombine the luminance channel to give more detail and 'pop' to the central region of the nebula. (The earlier posting was based on a Hubble Palette simulation in Pixinsight). These are simulations of the various palettes since the data set is captured with an OSC camera (ZWO ASI2600MC-P), rather than a monochrome camera with narrow band filters for images in each spectrum (Ha, S2, O3, L, R, G, B).

Enjoy!!
