Description

This has been a very troubled imaging run, beset by fogs and high clouds, unbelievable (to me) in the high desert of Chile. I must admit that I gave up at one point, cut my losses and accepted the data as it was and decided that I'd make the most of it, whatever it was. On top of dealing with strong gradients and playing wack-a-mole with the residual cosmic ray hits and random hot pixels there were serious bleeding from the brightest stars that required removal by hand. In the end I'm pleased of how the thing turned out although I was angling for more depth for one of the largest PNs as seen from Earth. The resemblance with some sort of turquoise eggshell from some mystical cosmic animal is quite compelling, in my view.
