Description

A narrow band wide field image of Orion taken under the full moon

Having sent my TS optics imaging star back to have its tense optics soothed in Germany i sent up my Orion RC on my new mount having had another go at collimating ...

Total disaster ! guiding was awful for some reason and images very blurry even though used autofocus ... so am guessing this is bad collimation

So i gave up on that as a bad job and get my Redcat51 out for the next night. I have not used this since last spring and hadnt tried with the ZWO ASI 1600 MM Pro.

Having spent ages trying to get the right bits and bats to actually connect with the right back focus and having had to make a home made weight for balance (load of bolts in silver foil attached with tape), was asisted by my eldest so who was shouting "more" "less" from the house whilst i was outside focusing I pointed the Redcat at Orion and got this !

Quite pleased with this for relatively low integration time and the under sampling doesnt seem to cause an issue really and have got some of the outer Ha gas clouds

Just got Ha and Oiii over two nights and took some short exposures to get the core

Had to crop about 25% out because of terrible gradients cause by Orion sinking into the light dome of Leeds before finally disappearing behind the house

I have ordered the astrodaddy autofocus kit and look forward to using the Redcat51 more going forward

Description: Just a quick zoom in on the core got with 20 second exposures ... managed to resolve the trapezium though at 250mm focal length :)
