Description

Abell 85, CTB1, LBN 576
Sometimes named as the Popped balloon nebula ,the Medulla nebula or the Garlic nebula.
This faint nebula is a supernova remnant in the constellation Cassiopeia at a distance of about 9800 lightyears away from the Earth.I was initially aiming for a lot more hours on this target and I am usually ready to rock, but these nights the clouds and fog did the rolling.
Anyway, I am not unhappy with the result.
The ten+ hours of data was collected over six nights in October 22
The Abell Catalog of Planetary Nebulae is not available in the Asiair, so I used the  coordinates to find the nebula and I then used one of the light frames to platesolve.
There are two Abell catalogues, The Abell catalog of rich clusters of galaxies and The Abell Catalog of Planetary Nebulae and this planetary nebula is naturally listed in The Abell Catalog of Planetary Nebulae.
Both catalogues are named after George Ogden Abell.
