Description

NGC 5566 or Arp 286 is a barred spiral galaxy in Virgo and is approximately 65 million light years away. The galaxy is the biggest one in Virgo, stretching nearly 150,000 light years across. Just above it lies the small blue galaxy NGC 5569. Below NGC 5566 the third galaxy NGC 5560 is stretched and distorted by its interaction with NGC 5566.
