IN A SEA FULL OF RED

Orione Nebula, taken from the outskirt of Naples just one year later from my first amateur approach to the astrophotography.

Fascinating and surrounded by a universe of dust, Orion Nebula it was the first subject to which I turned my attention one year ago, trying to catch it simply with my Nikon D750 and one little star tracker Star Adventure as my first picture of astrophotography.

After one year I made it again, integrating the shot with thirty h- alfa shots ruined by humidity and reflections due to the Christmas lights which caused artefacts and gradients for which I had to insist on the denoise at the expense of all the picture quality .

Nebulosa di Orione, ripresa dalla periferia di Napoli.

Affascinante e circondata da un universo di polvere, la Nebulosa di Orione è stato il primo soggetto a cui ho rivolto la mia attenzione un anno fa, cercando di catturarlo con la mia Nikon D750 e lo StarAdventurer.

Dopo un anno l'ho rifatta integrandola con trenta scatti h-alfa. La foto, tuttavia, è stata rovinata da umidità e riflessi delle luci natalizie che hanno causato un forte rumore ed artefatti che mi hanno costretto ad insistere col denoise a scapito della qualità dell'immagine.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
