Description

An Elephant's Trunk - Here, IC 1396

There are many observable elephant trunks, and here is one of them taken during early August.

The MVST had good seeing conditions earlier this month. All equipment were functioning autonomously despite the nightly electric cuts. Sky brightness have dropped from ~19 to ~20 mag/square arcsec. And yes, I could see the milkyway shining from my populated hometown.

I hope with this national fuel shortage, people will start using electricity wisely. All the light lost is space directly impacts lost fossil fuel that could be used for food preservation in fridges.

Under the hood:
TSO/GSO RC8, iOptron CEM70, ZWO ASI294MM, Baader 7nm Ha, Chroma 3nm O3, ZWO OAG along with ASI290MM mini for guiding, Primaluce ESATTO 2", 150Ah battery with a floating charger

Processed with Pixinsight, HOO combination, Lightroom, with the aid of Starnet++
