Description

Shattered across more than 4.5 degrees in our night sky (wikipedia says 3), this image shows the 'visible' skeletal remains of a massive star that went supernova between 5,000 to 10,000 years ago. This explosion could have been witnessed by ancient civilizations even at day light.

This image unveils the faint nebulosity of the Veil: first it closes the loop, second: it it highlights the outer shell, and third: it pops-out the bottom left tail.

The Veil nebula was the first deep sky object that I ever witness thorough an amateur telescope in 2016 using a visual H-alpha filter.

Technically, I acquired data on this object in May 5, June 6 and July 7 of 2019, but been processing it since then. Target was to pop up the faint outer shell nebulosity that randomly 'appeared' while playing around. It was until yesterday that I reached some acceptable results, I enjoyed the process (of processing) and was happy to learn a few PI techniques that will help me manage upcoming fainter targets.
