Description

This is M63, the Sunflower galaxy, in LRGB. Although M63 is categorized as a spiral galaxy, the arms are not well defined. Without any significant large-scale continuous spiral structure it is considered a flocculent galaxy. M63 resides in the northern constellation of Canes Venatici and contains about 400 billion stars.

This image was a session that I ran to use as a test for when I re-image it with the ASI2600. I only used short exposures so that I could capture it in one evening. After the test with the 2600 is completed I will probably do this object justice by capturing more images with longer exposures and potentially add in some Ha subs as well. Considering how well this one came out, more integration time should really bring out the details and suppress the noise levels.
