Description

Mare Humorum with the impressive crater Gassendi in the north has an average diameter of approx. 420 km, which corresponds to a distance from Cologne to Hamburg or from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.

By the way, Gassendi had been selected for one of the Apollo 17 landing sites.

I am neither really happy with the quality of the image nor with the result of my image editing. The "seeing" was very bad and I still have to learn a lot in post-processing.

I also ask myself whether it was a good idea to use the Baader Moon & Skyglow filter with the ASI 385MC color camera.

Nevertheless, I am fascinated that the rille "Rimae Mersenius" in the west and the “Rupes Liebig” as the western “shoreline” of the Humorum Basin are clearly recognizable.
