Description

Lunar North Pole
Many years ago, around 2013, I made an image that was even IODT in Astrobin (https://www.astrobin.com/48037/?q=Lunar%20South%20Pole%2C%20astroavani), in this image I indicated how to know the approximate location of the lunar south pole through a method that I suggested called "Crater Hopping".
Because all these years passed and I never bothered to apply the same method at the North Pole.
Now seeing this beautiful image, I decided to try to find out what would be the approximate position of the North Pole of the Moon.
For that, I preferred to use a simpler method, that is, simply draw a straight line that started at the crater Birminghan H and passing through the center of Anaxagoras would indicate the approximate location of the north pole located below the horizon.
Of course, the ideal would be to wait for a favorable libration in latitude, but you don't always have the right conditions at the time you need it.
The lunar North Pole is located exactly 500 km north of the center of Anaxagoras crater, located on the wall of Peary crater facing the dark side of the Moon between the craters Hinshelwood and Whipple that can be seen in the attached image obtained from the LROC NAC.
