Description

Another image from our novel dark site, east of our city. I took advantage of the clear northern skies to image this beautiful nebula.

Integration was not long at 25 x 120 seconds, 800 ISO. The same evening I shot M17 and finally, Neowise.

The Iris Nebula is a remarkable reflection nebula that resides in the constellation Cepheus and includes obvious patches of dark interstellar dust in the area.

NGC 7023 is relatively bright when compared to other reflection nebulae at magnitude 6.8.

NGC 7023 is the star cluster within the nebula. The nebula glows blue thanks to output from SAO 19158.

Description: A crop of the main image, but I tried to leave the interesting dark segments of the surrounding region about the nicely lit central "iris".
