Description

Jumping on the M61 bandwagon, and its recently-hatched supernova! Roughly 50 million light-years away, this supernova looks just as bright as the core of its own galaxy, and as bright as the much closer foreground stars in our own Milky Way.

5 hours total exposure time using LRGB filters on an Atik 383L+ camera, Sky-Watcher 190MN, and MyT mount. TheSkyX, CCD Navigator, PHD2, and CCD Autopilot managed the image capturing, and all processing was done in PixInsight.
