Description

Hello astrofriends! This is my first finalized project after a few months, it feels good to be able to post an image after all this time. NGC 3572 is not the extended nebula seen on the right of the image, but the small central cluster. It is situated in the Southern Carina constellation, close visually to the Carina nebula, much more famous. It was discovered by William Herschel.

The nebula is probably what remains after the star formation in the cluster, situated at around 9000 l.y. and spanning over 100 l.y. (Source: APOD). The nature of the small circular object in the  cluster center is not ellucidated (as I found out from ESO's site), could be a remnant or even a planetary nebula. There is also an interesting blue object (again, no details about it available) in the upper part of the nebula.

This was a narrowband project using the T2 Newtonian from Chilescope.
