Description

This galaxy group is located 400 million light years away in the constellation of Draco at a declination of +57 degrees.

The brightest and largest galaxy, at center, is NGC 6338.  This elliptical galaxy spans 2.2 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a large diameter of 250,000 light years.

The star halo above this object has interesting contours and seems to indicate that NGC 6338 is interacting with the elliptical galaxies immediately above it.  How many galaxies are above it?   There are least 2, and possibly 4, in that tight cluster.

All of the other larger galaxies in the image are part of the NGC 6338 group, at a similar distance from us.
