Description

Another great trio of lunar craters, and set of crater names that follow a theme – this time the theme being Coptic Popes, Saints and Theologians of 4th century Alexandria – Theophilus, Cyrillus and Catharina.

Tacitus, the most famous of Roman historians (AD56 - AD120) who independantly documented the crucification of Christ under Pontius Pilate, lies to the right of Catharina.

Kant (named after the German philosopher Immanuel Kant) lies to the right of Theophilus.
Madler (named after the German Astronomer Johann Heinrich Madler) and Beaumont (a French geologist circa 1798-1874) lie within the edges of Mare Nectaris.
