Description

An astro buddy moved to a dark site and took 60 minutes of data with his 8 inch Newtonian which I compared to 671 min (>11 hours) from my not very dark location. Same camera and similar L filters. Since both are 8 inch OTAs with similar obstructions I think it is close to an apples to apples comparison.

60 min ON LEFT 671 min ON RIGHT

Just eyeballing it I'd say I had slightly better SNR so I'm probably around 7 or 8 times brighter here which jives with the SQM values for the locations.

Take away is an hour at his location is a night at mine.
