Description

Taken at 70mm f4 using an old Pentax 70-210mm zoom lens, this nicely frames NGC 7000 and IC 5070. Using 2min subs, through a Baader 7nm Ha filter has extracted lots of detail, contrasting with the surrounding dust and dense star field. The great Cygnus wall shows up clearly, and for once I can see a ‘pelican’.

The bright waning moon prevented me from adding any colour frames to this, but to be honest I enjoy the contrasts and detail that always seem more pronounced in monochrome. At 15”/px the image resolution is much sharper, and with a 3.4 degree field radius, in my view acceptable, given the limitations of this optical system.
