Description

Vela Supernova Remnant

When imaging why not push your boundaries and test your skills on targets you felt were unattainable from the northern hemisphere?  We took a leap of faith and tested the waters at imaging at an extremely low angle of 7.5 - 13 deg. above the horizon.  This is staring through 4.5 - 8 times the amount of air compared to the zenith.  We aren't going to win the FWHM battle however we can now cross off a fantastic ancient stellar explosion off our bucket list.

We are pretty pleased with the data we are seeing coming off the Stellarvue scope even at this acute angle.  The full frame IMX 455 chip really opens up the scope while keeping the image scale at a reasonable level for the conditions we see.
