Description

This object is a rarely imaged faint HII emission ring located 12,000 light years away in the constellation of Cygnus at a declination of +31 degrees. The ring spans 20 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 70 light years.

This object is one of the fainter Sharpless objects. It is unique in the sense of being the only HII region I can recall which is completely void of any emission in the center. For being such an unusual object, I was surprised to find very little information on it. I would really like to learn more about how this was formed, and whether it is a ring or a sphere.
