Description

The Pleiades make a lovely sight throughout the winter months. This is an image that I took last December, using my DSI-IIC connected to an old Pentax zoom lens. Generally, I'm quite pleased given the relatively low resolution of this one shot colour camera, and that I can achieve a reasonable field of view.

A satellite buzzed my first frame, which I removed, then stacked and aligned the remaining frames at 'hi res' in Penumbra v0.6, before processing the LRGB stack in Startools. This does massively increase the file size from ~2.5 to10 Mb, but nice to have a clearer picture overall.

There is just a hint of the nebulosity that surrounds several of the hot blue stars in this young cluster. I'll try this again next year with much longer guided exposures.
