Description

I dodged the clouds to get ~12 seconds exposure as Jupiter and Saturn merge in the SW Sky just after sunset. Currently around 0.3 degrees apart they will reach their closest approach, at 0.1 degree (6.1") on Monday, since 1623, and for another 60 years! There is an interesting article in S&T news if you want to explore this event further. [https://skyandtelescope.org/astronomy-news/jupiter-and-saturn-embrace-in-solstice-conjunction/]
