Description

This image was an experiment in batteling the ampglow of my planetary camera. Finally, I succeded, even though the conditions were more than suboptimal. Wind, pollen, a spider choosing the tube as its new home and some haze turning the grey sky over Frankfurt to an intransparent red. After a rain of pollen setteled on my gear two nights ago I needed to clean the mirror. Something that I avoided so far. I must have overtightened the tuberings, mirrorclips or the mirror cell holderscrews. I noticed it in the beginning, but loosing the chance to try something new before the clouds come back was not an option! I decided to live with the heart shaped stars and I got an ampglow-free result :-) Cranking up the gain while reducing the exposure time to yield a higher signal even in the background enabled to properly calibrate out the ampglow with no problems.
