Description

Here we have another globular cluster, NGC5897 located in Libra. This cluster is rather loosely packed comparatively speaking (Shapley-Sawyer Concentration Class XI).

NGC 5897 is located about 24,000 ly away and spans approximately 170 ly. Its stars are of very low metalacity indicating that it is very old, on the order of 13 gyr... (Wikipedia)

There is not very much information available about this cluster except some very scholarly texts from Harvard and Oxford which deal mainly with the subject of Blue Straglers which they refer to as BS. I kind of thought that was funny.

I have an affinity for these globular clusters and I was interested in doing this one because of the lower central density of this and the presence of blue stragglers. I had some background color gradients to try to work out but I tried to be very conservative in those efforts. My thinking is that I might destroy detail trying to make a better background and that does not seem like a good trade-off to me.

I hope you like it and as always, comments and criticism welcomed! CS and be well,..
