Description

From SpaceX:

On Monday, January 6 at 9:19 p.m. EST, or 2:19 UTC on January 7, SpaceX launched its third launch of Starlink satellites from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida.

Falcon 9’s first stage supported a Starlink mission in May 2019, the Iridium-8 mission in January 2019, and the Telstar 18 VANTAGE mission in September 2018. Following stage separation, SpaceX landed Falcon 9’s first stage on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, which was stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

I was in Florida and was able to catch a launch. I had mixed emotions. Watching the launch was exciting BUT the mission was for the Starlink system.

I checked several locations. All the viewing spots at NASA were booked. We found a nice spot on A1A with view of the launch pad 40 and to the east. ULA was working on pad 41 (to the right on the image) getting ready for a launch.

ISO 100, F 20 duration approx 2 minutes. I stopped it after 1st stage shut off. I wish I had kept going. I think I could have captured the return of the first stage firing. Overall pretty cool and fun time.
