Description

Apparently, the first day after full moon isn't the optimum timing for lunar photography. On top of this transparent but turbulent air, yet a welcome opportunity for playing with several IR-pass filters. At the given condition an IR640nm provided results very slightly superior to IR742nm and IR850nm, probably because of the short exposure time of 2ms. The 2x barlow was as far as I dared to go with. Three images taken with a 3x barlow at FL=2250mm went into the dust bin.

The final image is a 5-panel mosaic taken with an ASI642MC in color at FL=750mm, 1ms, gain 80 at 138fps. The moon globe in the revision, too, is a 5-panel mosaic but taken with an ASI290MM in infrared (IR742nm) at FL=750mm, 2ms, gain 85, 170fps. All other images in the revision are in infrared (IR640nm), at FL=1500mm, 2ms, gain 200, 170fps. The entire collection are stacks of 600 frames, through the 10-bit ADC (high speed = ON), 1.5x drizzled in AS!3.
