Description

Milky Way Core, Carlyon Bay, Cornwall. Only just managed to get around to processing the image I took on my Birthday night last week from Carlyon Bay beach near St Austell, Cornwall. (I turned 34 by myself on a beach in the dark, haha) The core image is a total exposure of 12 mins made from a stack of 102 untracked 7-second subs at f/4, ISO 4000, 28mm. Stacked in DDS and processed in PS.The foreground is a single exposure, 3 minutes at ISO 400. Though this is a composite image, the foreground and background were both taken with a Canon EF 28-80mm USM zoom kit lens (not great for Astro at all...), so the scale of the Milkyway Core and the foreground scene are true to what I was seeing on the night. The core was so bright in the dark Bortle 2 skies that it looked like stationary fuzzy clouds, it was by far the best I have seen the core with my own eyes. Canon 60D (Mod)Canon EF 28-80mm III, 28mm @ F/4ISO 4000102 x 7-sec subs30 Dark subsStacked DSSProcessed PS
