Description

This image includes many objects including h-alpha and dark nebula regions in the vicinity of NGC 7822. The slightly left off center object LBN 581 looks like the head of a devious amphibian monster from the fiery depths. :-) The brighter neon orange area above the head is particularly impressive to me. There are also many features and 'finger' regions scattered throughout the field.

I tried to bring out the different colors as best I could to give the image contrast and variety. I wasn't at first sure about the color palette, but decided I liked it more than others I experimented with. I also wanted to do something that was different. The red, pink, orange, and brown colors seemed to be suited best to the monster head.

Still need to get better narrowband filters to eliminate the halos that really detract from the image. Also wasn't able to get rid of the magenta star colors as much as I would've liked.
