Description

It was a 73% moon yesterday, but it was the first clear night in weeks and I am suffering from AstroPhotography-withdrawal. Orion has just started to make its appearance in the night-sky, so I wanted to say hello to an old friend.

This was the first time I attempted Orion using a photo-lens and a startracker.

Aquisition Details:

Camera: Canon EOS 5D MKII

Lens: Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM III

Startracker: MSM

Lights: 44 x 60seconds @ ISO 800 f/4

Darks: 20

Bias: 20

No flats

Stacked in Astro Pixel Processor

Adjustments in Photoshop

The bright moon made post-processing a nightmare, but luckily Trevor Jones from Astrobackyard has a brilliant guide on removing unwanted glow and gradients.
