Description

The yellow star near the center of the dark dust cloud is T Tauri, a prototype of the class of variable stars T Tauri. Next to it is the yellow cloud known as the Hind variable nebula (NGC 1555). At 400 light years away, in the limits of a molecular cloud it is observed that the star and the nebula vary significantly in brightness, but not necessarily at the same time. The latest infrared studies indicate that T Tauri is part of a multiple system and suggests that the Hind nebula could also contain a very young stellar object.
